1. Each school is guaranteed a player in this game. The first nomination by a coach is automatically accepted.
2. Rosters were set as follows: Offense-2 to 3 Quarterbacks (3 is too many but two is too few if one is injured), 4 running backs, 6 receivers (including TE’s) , 10 offensive linemen. That is 23 players on offense. On defense-8 defensive lineman, 6 linebackers, and 8 defensive backs, for a total of 22. That allows you to be two deep at every position and have a 45 man roster.
3. Because you are not allowed to blitz outside the 20 yard line, it was decided that defense should be limited to a four man or five man front. No Three Three Stacks allowed.
4. It was also decided that the end man on the line of scrimmage on punts would be allowed to rush the punt.
8 Man Game
The 8 man schools are: Cascade, Council, Garden Valley, Green leaf, Horseshoe Bend, Idaho City, Midvale, Notus, Rimrock, Salmon river, TriValley, and Wilder. The coaches usually decide on the split of East and West schools to make the game competitive.
The 8 man selection meeting will be held at Horseshoe Bend on November 2, 2009 at 7 pm. Sean Porter will run that meeting. This game is a combined effort of the Shriners and the Third Ditrict coaches Association, therefore if a coach wants to nominate players they need to be a Third District Coaches member. Player packets will be given out to coaches the night of the selection meetings and will need to be returned to Sean Porter at Idaho City High School P.O. Box 227 100 Centerville Rd.
